Activism and direct action have increased to face the growing challenges of our world. In Summer 2020, we saw that in the George Floyd Uprisings which spread across the country and the world. Our interest was where the architect fits within these spreading movements. The design could be made to help movements and formulate a vision of their movements. After a vast study of local actions and occupations in Los Angeles, a wider study was conducted to formulate five principles of successful protest occupations. From these principles, a basic, unitized set of architectural tools were created, which were used to create a template for future activist occupation settlements if deemed necessary.
